Things I’m Loving (Greek Yogurt, Maui Moisture, Podcasts)

in Lifestyle on 03/01/18

I haven’t written one of these posts in forever and there are so many things I’ve tried recently that I want to share with y’all, so I thought I’d bring my monthly favorites back! This is just a quick roundup of things I’ve tried over the past month that I’m actually sticking with (no “I just bought this yesterday but you should try it too” products). I have a couple of products already lined up to try in the next month or so that you’ll hopefully see in my next post too!

Chobani Flip

Okay, can we just take a moment to appreciate Chobani’s glow up? The font and illustrations are gorgeous, I legitimately want to rebrand my blog to be more Chobani-esque.

I had honestly never tried Chobani products before stumbling on a sale at Central Market a few weeks ago. I don’t like the taste of Greek Yogurt, and I just don’t eat yogurt in general, so Chobani never made it onto my grocery list. Then I saw these cute little cups on sale for 99 cents and couldn’t resist flavors like Nutty for ‘Nana® and Chocolate Haze Craze®. I’m always craving some sort of chocolate post-dinner, so I switched these in for my typical scoop of chocolate ice cream or Trader Joe’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups (they’ll always hold a place in my heart though).

And they’re so. Good. I promise this isn’t sponsored, I’m just a proud new Chobani advocate (please send me yogurt though).

The sweetness is just right, not super sugary like a traditional yogurt but also not overly sour like you’d expect from Greek Yogurt. The nuts are a great addition, and I might need to purchase some chopped hazelnuts to put on everything now. They have a bunch of flavors, but my store seems to only carry the “indulgent” series. I’m really hoping to try the Perfect Peach Cobbler flavor sometime!

If you want something less sweet but aren’t a huge fan of Greek Yogurt, I’m actually warming up to their Fruit on the Bottom cups, which are literally just plain Greek Yogurt with…fruit on the bottom. The sweetness of the fruit cancels out some of the sourness of the yogurt, enough that I actually eat these every other day as a snack because they taste so good!

Maui Moisture

I have naturally curly hair (though my Instagram doesn’t really show it), so I need my hair products to be moisturizing. My dream would be to own some giant DevaCurl bottles of no-poo and conditioner, but that’s out of my budget right now. A curly-haired YouTuber recommended Maui Moisture as a great budget option so I decided to give it a try about a month ago.

I bought their Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioner, which are only about $7 each for a ton of product. It’s been a month since I started using them and I’ve hardly made a dent, even with my excessive use of conditioner. They smell incredible, but without being so strong that my hair becomes my perfume every day.

And then the texture. UGH. I’ve never had hair this smooth.

You know that feeling when you’re washing out your conditioner and your hair is like silk? That’s this stuff, except it doesn’t stop feeling like silk. It’s actually hard to tell when I have it all out because my hair stays smooth no matter how long I’ve been rinsing.

I’ve also noticed that my curls form better after using this stuff and air-drying, and aren’t quite as frizzy. I can’t judge too much on that right now though, because weather has been horribly humid in Austin and I don’t think any product could get rid of my frizz.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

I got my first gel manicure over the summer before a long vacation hoping it would live up to the hype of lasting two weeks. I didn’t love the idea of sticking my hand under a UV light, but the result was exactly what I wanted and the coat lasted!

Unfortunately, I don’t have $40 to drop every two weeks on nails. I decided to try Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel as a DIY option and while it’s not as perfect as getting a professional manicure, it’s a close second!

Things I'm Loving Sally Hansen
I used to hate doing my own nails because I knew within five days the coat would chip off, but this stuff really lasts. It’s been a week and a half now with minimal chipping, mainly from me doing dumb things like pulling cards out of the pocket on the back of my phone or something. Right now I just own the top coat and “Blacky O”, but I’ll probably try a lighter color before next month’s recap!

Glowing Up Podcast

Not a product, but y’all need to listen to this podcast. Esther and Caroline are my favorite podcast duo and probably the only people I can listen to for 45 minutes without tuning out. Their weekly podcast covers beauty, health, fitness, diet, and “all things girly and glowy”, so if that’s something you’re into go check it out! It’s very extra sometimes but you know, I’m 100% okay with being unapologetically extra.

Things I'm Loving Glowing Up

I usually listen while I’m working out, because they’re just long enough to get through my entire routine. I kind of like listening to podcasts more than music while I’m working out now which is crazy? Please send other podcast suggestions if you have any favorites!!
